Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen militia have killed six person in Iye community, Uvir council ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
This was barely 24 hours after suspected herders also killed five other persons and injured 2 others in Governor Samuel Ortom’s Ndzorov Council ward of Guma local government.
The Chairman of Guma LGA, Caleb Aba, while confirming the attack said the six persons were killed between the hours of 3 and 4a.m on Thursday.
He said “four persons were killed at Iye in Uvir council ward and two more were killed around Yelwata axis.

“They were killed at Ake fish pond. During this time, some people occupy the banks of the fish pond. They go there and make temporary tents where they fish and process it to dry.
“One cannot explain the reasons for this renewed killings because there was no provocation at all. The herders just came, attack the people and run back into Nasarawa.”
While he noted that the Police have been informed, the Chairman said “For now, the situation is that of fear of what would happen next.”
He appealed to the federal government and the security agencies to expedite surveillance in the communities and urged the people to be more security conscious by being on the watch out so as to report suspicious movements to police authorities.
