The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benue state has declared Christopher Adaji of the peoples’ Democratic (PDP) as the winner in the Ohimini state constituency election.
Declaring the result at the INEC office in Idekpa, the Returning officer, Professor Nicodemus Agbulu said Christopher Adaji of the PDP polled 6742 votes to defeat his rival Musa Alechenu of the All Progressives Congress, APC who scored 6341 votes.
The returning officer explained that, total registered votes stood at 41, 427, accredited voters 17, 424 while total vote cast was 16, 984. A total of 417 votes were rejected.
Results of the rerun election showed that APC scored 1,622 votes while PDP scored 1510 votes.
Reacting, the Benue state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the supplementary election in Ohimini state constituency as an improvement from the previous ones.
He noted that the election was violence free, transparent, and credible saying this can be maintained if the electoral act is amended with increased voter education among the Nigeria people.

Meanwhile, the APC candidate, Musa Alechenu of the APC has expressed disappointment over the conduct of election.
Alechenu who expressed disatisfaction with the conduct of the election accused the resident electoral commissioner and security of looking the other way while the PDP candidate, Chris Adaji and his co travellers were buying votes.
But Christopher Adaji of the PDP, who thanked God for his victory, said he remained grateful to the people who voted to ensure he won.
He also debunked the allegation that he engaged in vote buying saying his opponent’s allegations and claims were unfounded.
He assured the people of Ohimini state constituency of adequate representation just as he hailed INEC and security agencies for conducting a peaceful, free and fair election.
