The Senate on Thursday handed down a 24-hour ultimatum to the Department of State Service (DSS) and Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, submit their memoranda on the invasion of the Federal High Court, Abuja, by DSS operatives.
The lawmakers equally ordered the counsel to Omoyele Sowore, Femi Falana (SAN), the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Tony Ojukwu, Office of the Chief Judge of Federal High Court and the presiding Judge at the time of the alleged invasion, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu to submit testimonies.
The ultimatum was given by the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, led by Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele.
Recall that the DSS operatives were alleged to have invaded the Federal High Court in Abuja on December 6, to re-arrest Sowore, the convener of the#RevolutionNow protests who is standing trial for treason alongside his ally Olawale Bakare.

Speaking on Thursday, Sen.Bamidele said the panel was unable to proceed with the scheduled investigative hearing following the suspension of all activities by the Senate in honour of its member, Sen. Benjamin Uwajumogu who died suddenly in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said: “We are not able to proceed with the hearing because we lost one of our colleagues yesterday. He was on the floor of the Senate two days ago. We need to show concern for the departed soul. ”
The memos are to be submitted at the Committee’s Secretariat before close of work on Friday.
Present at the hearing were the Director-General, DSS, Yusuf Bichi, the Solicitor-General of the Federation, Dayo Apata, and a representative from Falana Chambers.
