The Supreme Court is set to commence hearing in the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its Presidential candidate in the last elections, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the judgment of the presidential election tribunal, which affirmed the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It has fixed October 30, 2019, as commencement of date.
The date was disclosed on PDP’s Official Twitter page of Sunday.
The tweet reads: “Breaking News! The Supreme Court of Nigeria has scheduled to hear the Appeal of the @OfficialPDPNig and @atiku / @PeterObi, arising from the judgment of the Appeal Court, on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

Recall that Atiku and PDP had in September filed an appeal against the judgement of the presidential election petitions tribunal, at the Supreme Court.
The Tribunal had on September 11, in its judgment affirmed the election of Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in last election.
The five-member pane rejected the claims of the petitioners that the election was marred by irregularities, that Atiku received more votes than Buhari and that the president did not have a secondary school certificate, a basic requirement to contest the election.
They therefore dismissed the petition filed by the PDP and Atiku in its entirety.
However in their five grounds appeal at the Supreme Court, Atiku and PDP are asking the apex Court to set aside the judgment of the tribunal and grant the prayers sought by them.
