The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, who returned to the country Sunday after a long absence from Nigeria said she was away to have a well deserved rest.
The First Lady’s long absence had led to several speculations with some attributing it to frosty relationship with her husband, which necessitated the need for a second wife for President Buhari.
It was also rumoured that the president had planned to wed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Friday last week at the Aso Rock Villa mosque.
This was denied by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, who described it as the handiwork of rumour mongers.

In a statement, the First lady’s spokesman, Suleiman Haruna, explained that her absence from the country, was to enjoy a deserved rest.
The statement added that her return would witness an invigorated focus on her pet project to improve the lives of women and children.
The statement reads: This morning, First Lady of Nigeria, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, returned to the country after a long holiday in the UK. She arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 4.30am via a British Airways flight.
“Speaking to reporters on arrival, Mrs. Buhari said she was happy to be home after a well-deserved rest. She confirmed that she was fully rejuvenated to continue the work of improving the health and well-being of women, children and other vulnerable Nigerians.”
