The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari was eminently qualified academically to stand election as President of Nigeria.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Mohammed Garba delivering the lead judgement in the PDP’s petition challenging Buhari’s victory in the Feb. 23 election held that he was educationally qualified to run for the office of the President .

He held that the fact that Buhari did not attach any certificates to his form did not mean that he did not have any certificates.

He also held that Buhari could not have enlisted in the army if he had not proven his academic qualifications.

He insisted that Buhari was educated to certificate level and that even if he didn’t have the basic education to qualify him to contest the post, the courses and training he attended in the course of his career as a Military officer, eminently qualified him.

Garba held that the petitioners did prove beyond reasonable doubts that Buhari submitted false information in the affidavit attached to his expression of interest form.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar had claimed that President Buhari lacked the educational qualification to contest the office of the President of Nigeria and prayed the tribunal to so hold.
