The Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday inaugurated its quick response wing in Daura, Katsina State.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar, said at the inauguration that the aim was to complement the efforts of sister security agencies in border surveillance.
Abubakar commended President Muhammadu Buhari for creating an enabling environment for the Nigeria Air Force to contribute its quota in curtailing security challenges, especially in the North-East.
He assured that the base personnel would cultivate an excellent relationship with the host communities and called for cooperation and understanding of the civil populace to enable the personnel discharge their duties effectively.
Abubakar added that the service had constructed additional four blocks of classrooms at the Muhammadu Buhari Primary School in Daura as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He added that the school was provided with modern furniture and other teaching and learning materials.
Group Capt. Hadi Ahmed, the Commander of the 213 Forward Operational Base, said the base consisted of virtual operational and engineering unit that would be activated whenever the need arises.
Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State, pledged more government support to ensure that the base operates optimally.
Masari said his administration would continue to support security agencies including those at the boarder in order to curtail criminal activities.
He said the state government had reduced cattle rustling and cross border crimes, which had before now affected the economy of the state.
Masari lauded President Buhari and the Chief of Air Staff for establishing the operational base in the state.
