The Lagos State Government on Friday released the official figures of pupils and adult who died on Wednesday following the collapse of a building on Lagos Island.

The three-storey building housed a nursery and primary school on the ground floor.
The state on Friday also commenced the demolition of distressed buildings in the area.

Speaking at a news conference at the Lagos Island General Hospital, Lagos, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris revealed that 20 children and adult died in the collapsed building saying that 43 people were rescued alive and were receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of LASBCA, Mr. Lekan Shodeinde disclosed that about 180 houses will be demolished in the exercise.

He said 20 would be demolished on Friday.
