Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu said the police have arrested 323 persons across the country for different electoral offences during the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He also said two police officers lost their lives during the elections while some were assaulted and injured in the course of carrying out their duties.
Adamu however, reiterated that police officers would not be permitted to carry arms near the polling units during the upcoming Governorship and States House of Assembly elections.
The elections will hold on March 9.
Recall that the force had earlier arrested 128 persons for alleged electoral offences.
Adamu, made the disclosure at a meeting with officers from the ranks of Commissioners of Police and above on Monday in Abuja.
The acting I-G said that the Special Election Investigation Team, SEIT, had been directed to investigate all the cases, liaising with INEC to ensure prosecution.
According to him, those behind the violence that characterised the election would be fished out and brought to justice no matter their status.
Adamu restated the commitment of the force to work closely with INEC and other sister security agencies towards a peaceful election.

He also cautioned the police personnel to remain civil, firm, professional and apolitical in the discharge of their duties saying that anything to the contrary would attract the full and appropriate response from the police and other security agencies.
On why the police would be allowed to carry arms at poling units, the police boss said that it was against the electoral act and international law for officers to use arms at polling units.
The meeting, according to Adamu was aimed at debriefing strategic commanders and evaluating the performances of officers during the last elections.
It also afforded the force the opportunity to perfect plans for the March 9 Governorship and State Assembly elections.
