The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said it would reopen its electioneering campaign.
Speaking at the APC caucus meeting in Abuja on Monday, National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole insisted that campaigns must reopen to keep the fact of the elections in the consciousness of the people.
He said the APC was not satisfied with the manner the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has handled the electoral process.
“The National caucus of All Progressive Congress, APC, condemn the way INEC had managed the process, INEC had four years to plan these elections, they had the timetable, they ought to have been able to forsee what they required, possible source of challenges and take appropriate steps to arrest any unforeseen developments.
“Having conducted elections in the country since 1999, in 2019, INEC cannot give excuses.”
Oshiomhole lamented that in spite of the huge resources which INEC asked fo,r which National Assembly had cooperated and approved, “INEC has subject us into a huge embarrassment.”

He spoke further; “We remind INEC that whoever has power must not lack wisdom. In exercising their right and responsibility, they must not lack wisdom.”
The APC Chairman urged all Nigerians to remain steadfast and committed adding that “We must not dismiss our country and INEC even with the incompetence they have shown.”
He stressed that in order to avoid low turnout during the election, his party has resolved to renew the campaign and go round the country to rally at least 24 hours before the elections.
He also encouraged people to turn up and vote as low turn up gives chance for elections to be rigged.
Oshiomhole accused INEC of working in cohort with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, claiming that it had posted card carrying members of the PDP as Ad-hoc staff and insisted that for the coming elections “INEC has to screen and to ensure that Ad-hoc staff are not card carrying member of any political party.”
He also urged the police not to release any of the arrested people who were found with already printed out elections result.
“Those who have been arrested so far from what we have been told and we have no reason to doubt are all PDP members.
“Lastly, we remain curious and to that extent we are very suspicious of the leadership of INEC. It is now clear to us from all we have seen that the PDP and their candidates and top leaders were aware that the elections will not take place even at the time we the governing party were not aware that the elections will not take place.
“So INEC has to explain to us why the President did not have the privileged information that the elections will not take place.
If the president did not have access to the privileged information until about 4am when he woke to say his morning prayers, how can INEC explain that PDP hierarchy had prior knowledge that the elections were not going to take place,” Oshiomhole said.
