The police on Tuesday docked a 50-year-old man, Habibu Salisu in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, over alleged N1 million fraud.
Salisu, a resident of Rigachukwun on Emir Road, Kaduna, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and cheating.
The prosecutor, Mrs. Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that the matter was reported by Saka Amuda of plot 150 NIA Street, Karu, Abuja, at Utako Police Station, Abuja, on Nov. 6, 2017.
Ukagha said that on the same date, the defendant tricked Amuda by making him to pay N1 million into his Keystone bank account.
The prosecutor added that instead of the defendant to use the money for the purpose it was meant for, Salisu went to undisclosed destination with the money.
She said that the police searched for Salisu until Sept. 24, 2018 when he was arrested.

Ukagha explained that the defendant admitted that he uses his account to defraud innocent citizens as N500,000 was recovered from him.
She told the court that the offences contravened sections 176 and 322 of the Penal Code.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty and the Judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with one surety in like sum.
Maiwada said that the surety must be a level 10 officer in federal civil service and must present his or her first appointment letter and last promotion letter.
He also ordered that the surety must present his or her official identity card, voter card, national identity card and other valid means of identification.
Maiwada said that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until Nov. 5 for further hearing.
