Despite a siege laid to the National Assembly by security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force and Department of State Security Service, DSS, legislators have finally found their way in.
They forced their way into the complex, according to tweets by Bamikole Omisore, media aide to Senate President Bukola Saraki.
“Senators and House of Reps have forced their way into the National Assembly. We are going to chambers now.
“Senators and House of Reps members are now in front of the chambers,” his tweets read.
The security agents laid seek to the National Assembly stopping anyone –including the lawmakers – going into the complex.
The reason for the siege was not known as at the time of filing this report
Armed to the teeth, they occupied strategic areas around the National Assembly.
Some of the senators denied access into the complex were Rufai Ibrahim, Ben Bruce and Sani Yerima.
Complaining, Ibrahim said: “We’re legislators and we’re supposed to have access to our offices.
“The DSS came and blocked the whole entrance to the National Assembly and said it is orders from the above. We’re here waiting to know who gave such orders.”
Ben Bruce spoke with journalists on the incident, saying that those behind the siege would be dealt with.
His words: “We will ask them to revoke their Visas, the Visas of their wives and the Visa’s of their children. Any nation in Western Europe and North America. And let me say this very clearly: let nobody test this institution.
“I call on all of you to photograph all those breaking the law, get me their pictures, get me their names. We will submit them to the embassies. I am in talks with them already, we will make sure their Visas are revoked.”

Following appeal by the Presidency for the legislators to reconvene to ensure smooth running of government activities, Saraki, on Monday summoned an emergency of the leadership of the National Assembly.
The meeting is scheduled to hold at 12 noon.
The National Assembly adjourned sitting till September 25 in protest of allege attacks on the leadership of the National Assembly by security forces.
