Ahead of the visit of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, to Lagos on Tuesday, Lagos State government has tarred the road in front of the Afrika Shrine.
Afrika Shrine is the nightclub founded by Nigerian music legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Lagos State government will host Macron at the Afrika Shrine.
Also, in preparation for the visit, the government had announced diversion of traffic and movement restriction around Alausa and Agidingbi area of Ikeja, in the state.
The state government in a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Taiwo Salaam, said it would host Mr. Macron at the Shrine.
Residents of the state who live around the Shrine are looking forward to his visit.
Taiwo Akinbode told The Next Edition that “I will be at the Shrine to see the French president. It is a good advert for this place. I grew up in this area and the Afrika Shrine is like a second home to me. For a president to visit this place is just amazing.”

One of the contractors working on the roads around the Shrine, who simply gave his name as Dauda, told The Next Edition: “We have been working since morning to ensure that this place is in order before tomorrow (Tuesday).”
The evening will feature concerts, fashion shows by leading African designers and a meeting with stars from Nigeria’s booming Nollywood film industry.
The Afrika Shrine located in Ikeja replaces Fela’s original club burnt down in 1977.
However, to millions of Fela’s fans, the current Shrine still represents the original one.
This is not the first time Macron will visit Nigeria as he had been here in the past.
He trained as a senior civil servant at the French Embassy in Lagos in 2004.
That was seven years after Fela died.
