Ayadecare, a comprehensive health insurance scheme of the Cross River State government has been launched.
Governor Ben Ayade after whom the scheme was named carried out the inauguration.
The scheme is to take care of the vulnerable as well as the zero income earners in the state.
It got N250 million as seed fund from the governor.
While the state government donated N200 million, Ayade, on behalf of his family donated N50 million.
Speaking at the inauguration held at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, the governor promised that the state would invest heavily in the scheme to make it a success.
“The scheme is a clear indication that the state is on the right path to ensuring prosperity and better health services for the people. Our children must have access to the scheme and the launch of the programme on Children’s Day is to celebrate the children who are leaders of tomorrow,” he said.

He praised the state’s lawmakers from both the National Assembly and State House of Assembly for offering to subscribe for 500 persons in each of their political wards.
According to him, the scheme would take care of the very poor in the society.
The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo, spoke at the occasion, praising the governor for the initiative.
He assured the governor that the legislature would continue to support the scheme.
The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Inyang Asibong, said the launching of the scheme was in fulfillment of the governor’s deep vision for healthcare in Cross River State.
