Mr Gabriel Agorye who is a personal assistant to former Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc., Raymond Dokpesi, on Friday revealed that he withdrew N40 million for his boss.
Agorye was speaking as a prosecution witness in the trial of Dokpesi over the N2.1 billion said to have been corruptly given to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, during former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Agorye who described himself as Dokpesi’s personal assistant and that he ran errands for him said the money was withdrawn from his boss’ First Bank account.
Agorye is the 11th prosecution witness and was led in evidence by Mr Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), the prosecuting counsel.
Agorye also said some money were paid into his personal account which he withdrew and gave to his boss.
He however said he did not know the source of the monies when cross examined by Mr. Kanu Agabi (SAN).
His words: “I cannot say that the source of the money was illegitimate, and I do not know the uses to which the monies were put to.”
The witness was later discharged by the trial judge, Justice John Tsoho, while the case was adjourned till February 6 and 7.
Dokpesi’s alleged involvement in the financial scam was blown open in December 2015.
