The Police Command in Ogun says it has arrested seven suspects for alleged armed robbery, housebreaking, stealing, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace in separate operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Abeokuta.

Babaseyi said that the arrests were made during coordinated intelligence-driven operations carried out by operatives in the Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado Divisions.

He said operatives of the Sango-Ota Division arrested three suspects identified as Pelumi Akintonde (21), Mojeed Sanusi (28) and Mubarak Lateef (17) over an alleged armed robbery incident in Alasia community.

According to him, the suspects allegedly participated in an attack on a resident during which valuables were forcefully taken.

He said a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and an expended cartridge were recovered from the suspects, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the gang still at large.

The police spokesperson also said the operatives of the Owode-Egba Division arrested Damilare Makanjuola (22) in connection with an alleged house breaking and theft in Ofada.

”Preliminary investigation linked the suspect to other reported burglary incidents within Sun City Estate, Ofada, where electrical appliances, cash and other valuables were allegedly stolen,” he said.

Babaseyi disclosed that two other suspects, Tijani Jubril (28) and Ezra Modi (22) were arrested for alleged conspiracy and stealing within the Treasure Island Estate, Awo Village.

He said the suspects were intercepted while attempting to dispose of stolen electrical appliances allegedly removed from a residential property within the estate.

According to him, the stolen items were recovered intact, while investigation revealed that entry into the property was allegedly forced.

He added that operatives of the Agbado Division arrested Waris Adebesin (22) for allegedly causing public disturbance and threatening violence around a secondary school environment.

He said the suspect was arrested with a knife and that the timely intervention of the police prevented a possible breakdown of law and order in the area.

Babaseyi said that all the suspects were currently in police custody and undergoing further investigation.

He quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bode Ojajuni, as commending the operatives for their professionalism and swift response.

He said the commissioner also appreciated residents for providing timely information that aided the successful operations.

According to Babaseyi the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state. (NAN)
