The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has praised Gov. Uba Sani for establishing the Command and Control Centre as an intelligence hub to tackle insecurity in Kaduna State, while insisting that the state’s security situation is often exaggerated.
Chief Yomi Badejo Okusanya, Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Nigerian Public Relations Week, Croc City 2026, made the remarks during a media tour of government projects in Kaduna.
After inspecting the Command and Control Centre, Chief Okusanya acknowledged that while Kaduna faces security challenges like other states, the situation is “not as bad as people think.”
He disclosed that there were pressures discouraging the Institute from hosting the 2026 edition of the Nigeria Public Relations Week in Kaduna due to safety concerns.
“Yes, it has some challenges like every other place, but efforts have been made to tackle this issue, and secondly, it’s not as severe as portrayed,” he said.
He urged the state government to share its security measures nationwide and recommended replicating the Command and Control Centre in all 23 local government headquarters.
The media tour also included visits to Badarawa Primary Healthcare Centre, Kawo General Hospital, Government Secondary School Nasarawan Rigachukun, the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, and the Kakuri Southern Terminal, which is under construction.
At Badarawa PHC, Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, highlighted that Kaduna State has upgraded all 255 primary healthcare centres to Level 2, providing 24 hour services including basic emergency, obstetric, and neonatal care.
She also noted the state has improved health workers’ salaries, hazard allowances, and referral systems.
At the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, Provost Hussaini Haruna Muhammad said the institute operates three campuses to serve the northern, central, and southern senatorial districts.
“The institute offers 14 trade areas, including National Skills Qualification (NSQ) courses recognized internationally, as well as short-term and artisan certification programs.
Currently, the Rigachukun campus has 497,000 students.”
The delegation also toured Kaduna State’s longest road constructed in the past two decades, a 35 kilometre asphaltic road linking Igabi, Kajuru, and Chikun local government areas, including a 130 metre bridge over the Kaduna River.
Dr Baba Ahmed, Managing Director of Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA), said the project has transformed mobility, agriculture, and rural economies in the region.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the media tour highlighted Kaduna State’s ongoing efforts to improve security, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, signaling the government’s commitment to development across all sectors.
The tour of projects is part of the activity for the ongoing NIPR week.
