The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it is reviewing a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to parts of its information systems.
In a statement on Wednesday, the commission said the breach affected “limited aspects” of its systems.
“The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is currently reviewing a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to limited aspects of its information systems,” the statement reads.
The commission said it activated its response protocols immediately after detecting the incident.
“CAC promptly activated its response protocols and is working with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), relevant government agencies and partners to assess the scope and impact,” the commission added.
According to CAC, appropriate containment measures have been implemented, with additional safeguards deployed to strengthen system security.
While the review is ongoing, the commission advised users of its portal to take precautionary steps.
“Stakeholders are advised to monitor their records on the CAC portal, update login credentials, and remain cautious of unsolicited communications.”
The commission reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of its database.
CAC also said it will provide updates as investigations progress.
On April 5, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) launched an investigation into an alleged data breach involving Remita Payment Services Ltd., Sterling Bank, and other entities.
