The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has lauded athletes for their resilience and outstanding performances as the 3rd National Para Games ended in Abuja.
Tinubu declared the Games closed at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, where she was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima.
She praised participants from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, describing them as courageous and determined.
“I commend the athletes who participated from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. You have displayed courage, resilience and grace. You have shown us that the strength of the human spirit knows no limitations… You are true heroes of our nation,” she said.
The First Lady also called for a more inclusive society where persons living with disabilities are supported and empowered, in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She further commended the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, for the successful organisation of the Games and ongoing reforms in the sports sector.
In his remarks, Dikko emphasised the need for greater investment in para sports, noting that athletes deserve access to quality training, facilities and structured development, while highlighting their consistent success on the global stage.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the overall winners’ trophy to Enugu State, which topped the medals table with 40 gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals.
