Some women in Plateau on Monday in Jos called on the Federal Government and security agencies to end killings in the North-Western part of the country.
The women made the call during a protest organised in solidarity with Women in North-Western Nigeria, an NGO.
Dr. Gloria Puldu, President of Leah Foundation, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intensify efforts at addressing current security challenges in the Northwest and other parts of the country.
She decried rising spate of killings in the country and called on security agencies to adopt new strategies to end the scourge.
“We are here in solidarity with Women in North-Western Nigeria who have been crying and protesting against the killings of their children and spouses while their daughters are raped and abducted by bandits.
“Insecurity has engulfed the entire country and all we hear from government is that they are on top of the situation; we are very tired of this situation.

“What is happening to our girls and women; what is happening to our school children is very pathetic and it is unacceptable,’’ she said.
Puldu called on the international community to wade into the insecurity in Nigeria, adding that women and children had largely been the victims.
She also called on Nigerian women to pray relentlessly to God to bring lasting peace to the nation.
“We call on the entire women in Nigeria to rise; do not sit until you are affected.
“We should stand up and cry out together in solidarity with other parts of the country, irrespective of faith.
“Blood is being shed on daily basis; human rights are being violated and we must speak out against it.
“We are tired of the whole situation; our men are killed and we are made widows; our daughters are raped on daily basis and many of them are even in captivity.
“Leah is still going to spend another Christmas in captivity; Chibok girls are going to spend eight years in captivity; enough of this; we are tired,’’ she said.
Mrs Rotha Jahota, leader of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Plateau decried the worsening security situation in the country.
She called on the Northern Governors Forum to take proactive measures toward addressing the scourge.
“Our women are dying and our children are still in captivity and no effort is being made to secure them and we are out today to cry with our sisters in the Northwest.
“Many of our women in the Northwest have been captured by bandits and we call on government to evolve new measures of tackling this insecurity,’’ she said.
On her part, Pastor Esther Lagang, lamented the high rate of killing, raping and abduction of young girls in the northern part of the country and called on government to salvage the situation.

Some were: “No to rape,” “Free Leah Sharibu’’, “Stop school abduction’’, “Free all our girls’’, “Stop injustice against women.” (NAN)
