An Owerri Magistrate Court on Monday remanded the Imo State House of Assembly member representing Ohaji Egbema State Constituency, Hercules Okoro, in the state correctional facility for alleged assault.
Okoro, a member of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), was arraigned in court on an eight-count charge bordering on assault with intention to wound.
He however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

His Counsel, Mr. Amandibuogu Osondu prayed the court to grant bail to the defendant arguing that the offences were bailable.
Accordingto him, Okoro’s continued detention would be against justice.
The lawmaker had been in detention for three days.
The prosecuting counsel, Mr.T Okee, in his response, said the case was sudden adding that he needed more time.
In his ruling, Justice D.VOkoroji advised the prosecuting and the defending counsel to exchange briefs on Tuesday and adjourned till Nov. 18.
Okoro was arrested on Friday, November 13 following a violent altercation between him and the Deputy Speaker of the House, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu.
