Nigeria’s Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will have to wait to know whether she becomes the first woman to head the World Trade Organization (WTO) as Director-General or not.
This is because the WTO has postponed the meeting earlier scheduled for November 9 to decide on the issue.

The wait is also indefinite as the organisation has not announced the another date for the meeting.
Recall that Okonjo-Iweala had been proposed by a WTO nominations committee on October 28 for the job, but the United States vetoed the recommendation.
The postponement of Monday’s meeting is however believed to be as a result of the fresh surge in the spread of COVID-19 and restrictions being imposed in some countries which may prevent some delegates from attending.
