The Federal Government has barred Emirates Airlines from operating in Nigeria.
Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, who announced the ban on his verified Twitter handle, said it will take effect from Monday, September 21.
He however, did not give reasons for the ban.
Emirates had been among the airlines earlier granted approval to operate international flights into the country earlier.
The tweet read: “The PTF sub-committee met today with EU Ambassadors to discuss Lufthansa, Air France/KLM ban. The meeting progressed well. Emirates Airlines’ situation was reviewed and they are consequently included in the list of those not approved, with effect from Monday, September 21, 2020.”
Recall that the Federal Government had last month announced it would enforce the principle of reciprocity in granting permission to airlines to resume operations after the five month closure of flight operations following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Recall also that before the resumption of international flights in the country, the Federal Government had announced the airlines granted approval and those denied.
Among those denied approval to operate flights into the country were; Air France, KLM, Etihad, RwandAir, Air Namibia, Royal Air Maroc, Lufthansa and TAAG Angola Airlines
Cabo Verde and South African airlines were also denied approval on the grounds that international flights had yet to resume in their countries.
Those given approval were; Middle East Airline, British Airways, Delta, Qatar, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates Airlines ( now banned), Air Peace, Virgin Atlantic, Asky Airlines, Africa World Airways, Air Cote D’ Ivoire, Kenya Airways, EgyptAir, Turkish Airlines.
