The Republic of Lebanon has said 25 of its citizens evacuated from Kano State, Nigeria, on Tuesday, May 5, tested positive for coronavirus.
This was contained in a statement by the country’s Ministry of Public Health published on its website on Wednesday.
Just like most governments across the world, the Republic of Lebanon has been repatriating its citizens since the peak of the pandemic in April, assigning the task to Middle East Airlines.
According to a flight schedule prepared by MEA between April 28 and May 8, three repatriation flights have been made from Nigeria to Lebanon.

The flight schedule on the website of the airline showed that the first evacuation flight took place from Lagos to Beirut on April 28, the second flight from Port Harcourt to Beirut occurred on April 30 while the third flight from Kano to Beirut happened on May 5.
The government said the infected persons would be transferred to the hospital for treatment and quarantined forthwith.
“The Ministry of Public Health announces that it has been confirmed that 25 positive cases with COVID-19 were recorded among the passengers on board the flight that arrived from Nigeria.
“Accordingly, the affected cases will be transferred to the hospital with an emphasis on the application of strict domestic quarantine for negative cases, knowing that they will be followed up daily by the Ministry and whoever shows any symptoms will be referred to the hospital for re-examination,” The PUNCH quoted the statement as saying.
