It is the first day of the partial lifting of the lockdown on Lagos which began on March 30.
For many Lagosians, it was like being let out from a cage as they returned to the streets.
The Next Edition moved around Mushin and Surulere areas of the state to observe the level of compliance with the guidelines released by the state government to guide movements.
Our correspondent observed that there was minimal compliance with the order mandating compulsory use of facemasks in public as many people went about their business without masks.
Many, who had their masks on wore them on their jaws instead of covering their mouths and noses.
This is as many made nonsense of the social distancing guidelines, hanging out in groups, without facemasks and conversing among themselves.
A food seller, who simply gave her name as Iya Ibeji complained that the face mask was uncomfortable for her.
“I find it difficult to breathe with the mask on. Also, the elastics at the ends are giving me blisters on my ears. They are too tight,” she complained.

Would she rather bear the discomfort of the face mask or contract the Coronavirus?
She said: “I don’t want to contract the virus, but I also don’t want to faint from wearing the facemasks.”
Meanwhile, some commercial transport operators also failed to comply with the number of passengers to carry as directed by the guidelines.
Danfo drivers ignored the order to carry two passengers on each row of seats and instead carried three and not all passengers wore facemasks.
However, Tricycles operatives complied with the guidelines carried two passengers, though, with a 100 percent increase in fare.
Routes which used to be N50 are now N100. The same applied to Danfo buses.
At the Diamond/Access Bank at Sadiku, customers were seen clustered together in total disregard for social distancing as they awaited their turn to access the banking hall or queue to use the ATM.
Many of them were also without face masks.
The same also applied to some other banks at Ogunlana Drive in Surulere.
