The Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday gunned down three suspected kidnappers who attempted to bulldoze into the premises of Mother Cat construction company in Mando area of the metropolis.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration in the Command, Mr Onah Sunny, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kaduna.

According to him, the incident took place on Wednesday at about 05:40am when the armed suspects engaged policemen attached to the company in a shootout.

“The gallant policemen engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and repelled the attackers and in the process gunned down three of them.

“During the exchange of fire, two of our men, Insp. Bijimi Maiyaki and Kabiru Shuaibu attached to Operation Yaki sustained injuries and were taken to the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna for treatment.

“However, one of of the policemen died while receiving treatment at the hospital,” Sunny said.

Sunny listed the items recovered from the hoodlums to include four AK 47 Rifles; Eight Magazines with 130 live ammunition, pieces of suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a Golf Wagon vehicle with registration number W 812 FST.

According to him, police operatives were still on the trail of the remaining two suspects who escaped with bullet wounds.

” I want to appeal to members of the public to assist the police with prompt and relevant information on any suspicious movement in their respective neighbourhood so as to ensure effective proactive crime prevention.

“The Command highly appreciates the support of the public and the media in our collective stride to bring down the rate of crime and criminality in Kaduna State to the barest minimum,” Deputy Commissioner of Police said.
