A 28-year-old man, Augustine Ozobi, has been arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly obtaining N11 million on the pretext of supplying tyres to his business associate, one Izuchukwu Ekwudu.
He is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and obtaining under false pretext.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the offences were committed between November 2017 and May 2018, at Enu Owa Street, Idumota, Lagos.

He told the Magistrates’ Court that the defendant allegedly obtained N11 million from Ekwudu, the complainant, under the pretext of supplying him new tyres but failed to do so.
The prosecutor said that the offences violated the provisions of Sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adedayo, fixed bail for N5 million, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until August 28 for mention.
