Recruitment of ad-hoc staff not now, beware of fraudsters -INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has warned the public that it is not carrying out the recruitment of ad-hoc staff at the moment.

The warning which was given on its official website was against the backdrop of some information making the rounds that INEC was already recruiting.

INEC said members of the public should be wary as some people might be out to swindle them.

The statement reads:  “It has come to the notice of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that some publications have been circulating on Social Media Platforms and some online news sites that INEC will be recruiting “100,000 Ad Hoc For 2019 General Election.”

“This information is false.

“The general public should disregard this information because INEC is NOT recruiting at the moment.”

It would be recalled that INEC had earlier stated that it would recruit some ad-hoc staff for the prosecution of the 2019 general election.

“The projected increase in the number of ad-hoc staff to be engaged in the elections by the commission arose from the need to make provisions for adequate manpower for the exercise on a general template and specifically to take care of peculiar needs for that purpose in some polling units across the federation,” INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had said
