Leader of the main opposition party in Zimbabwe, Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), Morgan Tsvangirai, is dead.
He died at the age of 65 in a hospital in South Africa.
He is suspected to have died of colon cancer which he had been suffering from for about two years.
The story of his illness was disclosed in 2016.
His condition worsened recently.
His death may affect his party, especially, in view of the election which comes up soon
It would be recalled that the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has been divided since the announcement of his illness with three deputy leaders making moves to succeed him.
It is expected that the party will choose a new leader and launch a campaign against a resurgent Zanu-PF, the ruling party, to contest polls that may be held as early as May.
