Speakers seek passage of Whistle blowing bill

The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria has asked the National Assembly to pass the whistle blowing bill pending before on time to aid the on-going anti-graft war.

This is as the conference commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s government for the success recorded so far in the fight against corruption.

In a communiqué which was signed by the Chairman Mr Abdumumin Kamba in Uyo, and issued on Saturday, it called for stronger synergy and collaboration among agencies in the fight against corruption.

The conference praised all the security agencies in the fight against Boko- Haram insurgency for their professionalism and expertise.

The speakers also called for quick action and synergy to combat the menace of kidnapping, killing by herdsmen, cattle rustling and other criminal activities in the country.

The Conference of speakers commended Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for commencing the continuous voters’ registration but called on state governments to ensure that democratically elected structure are put in place at local government level.

In addition, it appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to all voting centres and unit to accommodate all those in the rural areas.
